Hizbut Tahrir in Bangladesh

Leading intellectual Professor Kabir Chowdhury and Shahriar Kabir in a joint statement demanded the ban on all Islamist organizations from Bangladesh.

This demand came after reports of growing influence of the militant group Hizbut Tahrir (HuT) in university campuses, mainly the North South University (NSU).

HuT has been banned from most of the countries in Central Asia and Middle East. Even Pakistan, a country where Islamists walk freely, has banned HuT in 2003.

Jamaati teacher in Chittagong has seperated the children of class five into two sections based on religion. This headmistress in a school made two sections, one for Muslim children and the other for the rest, for children class five and above.

Jamatis Are Burning!

Jamaat supporters and the supporters of other fundamentalist and terrorist groups like Jamaat are burning with rage as the Stop Jamaat petition has slowly and steadily getting signatures from all over the world.

People from all walks of life are signing this petition to create awareness among the common people about the evils of Jamaat and their followers.

Jamatis have posted comments on other blogs doubting the credibility of the collected signatures. Their lame excuses include limited ISPs, fake email addresses, etc. :) It is interesting and amusing actually.

How many Bengali families in Bangladesh, or any other country for that matter, own more than one computer? So if the father, mother, and a son/daughter signs the petition, how many ISPs would we see? Aren't we all familiar about family members coming to our houses and using the Internet just like the phone? This would definitely increase the number of signatures, but will it show new ISPs? Fake email addresses? I am sure we can email each of the given addresses and then find it out. Did the Jamatis do that? Have YOU, who have signed the petition, received a 'test' mail from a Jamati recently?

People of Bangladesh knows that evils of Jamaat.

Jihadi Songs in Bangladesh

Another twist to fundamentalism

The Probe investigation reportedly reveals that the Islamist songs have started gaining ground among the masses, particularly the impressionable youths, while the Probe scrutiny of some 300 songs composed, sung and marketed by the cultural wings of Jamaat-e-Islami, Islamic Constitution Movement and Khelafat Majlish, shows that the common messages that the most of the ‘best-selling’ songs pass to the audience are the need for jihad to establish an Islamic state, glorification of jihad and jihadis like Osama bin Laden and Mullah Omar, justification for madrassah education, hatred against democratic way of life, abhorrence of Kadianis, and of course, promotion of male-chauvinism — an idea which is common in all kinds of religious fundamentalism.

A few lines from a few such songs might provide the readers with some clues about the contents of the Islamist music in question. They are as follows:

‘The dauntless soldiers move forward/Make the line of jihadis longer by bringing in those who have stood for prayer’, ‘We want to hoist a new flag for all the 12 crore Bengalis/The flag will carry the words Allahu Akbar in golden letters’, ‘Whoever wants to go to Bangla’s badar, the Quran is beckoning you’, ‘Mother, I am going to a holy war. I will soak the dry desert with my blood. If I become a martyr, I will fly in the sky like a bird, happily’, ‘We will be Hazrat Abu Bakars and bury the Kadianis’, ‘We do not accept democracy and socialism, Bangladesh’s parliament is today filled with atheists/They are Muslims only in name, not in action’, ‘Why are we born men, if the women are to lead the people’, etc. A couple of the songs not only support ‘suicide-attacks’, but also inspire the listeners to do so. Songs like ‘If the Quran and Hadith are forbidden in the court, shouldn’t one sacrifice his life?’, and ‘Young, tender Shish Mohammad, how fortunate his friends are/Shish has sacrificed his life for the Quran’ are glaring examples.

Reports have it that some of the albums of such Islamist songs sell 30 to 35 thousand copies each.
